Business ArisingMarj Bollinger advised she had followed up with Carl Skully's office regarding the Penrith/Orange Transport study. Correspondence from Parliamentary Secretary Reba Meagher outlining `initiatives' from the study. Appeared to be just another study saying pretty much what other previous studies have said - will wait to see if there is any action. CorrespondenceInward1. Cabonne Shire Council: HSAG successful in getting action on improved signage at intersection of Molong - Yeoval Road. 2. Railway Digest: Subscription notice 3. John Watters: Re. submission to feasability study being conducted into upgrading of Bells Line of Road. MB advised that Maunsell McIntyre is conducting the study. Contact Mathew Stephens Ph 99593422. 4. Peter Andren: P&F Sacred Heart School in Bathurst concerned about legislation that governs the number of children legally allowed to travel on a school bus. Up to 100 children carried on a local bus run. HSAG to contact Sacred Heart to discuss and consider a media campaign on the matter. 5. Reba Meagher: Outcome of Penrith/Orange Transport Corridor Task Force Study. 6. Reba Meagher: Re. Manusu Drive and Forest Road in Mendooran. Advised that Coolah Shire is responsible and matter will be brought to its attention by RTA. 7. RTA: Meeting regarding pavement rehabilitation at Carcoar. 8. Peter Lewis: Re. Heavy rain on the eastern coast and conduct of semi-tralier drivers. 9. Report from Bathurst Public Transport Initiative Committee: 10. Rail Access Corporation: Re. Signs on level crossings on disused railway line between Molong and Dubbo that are misleading to motorists. Has advised Cabonne Council to remove signs. 11. Australian Trucking Association: Invitation to MB to attend 10 year anniversary dinner. 12. Hills Chatter 13. Rail 2000 Newsletter Motion: That the inward correspondence be received and actions of the secretary endorsed.
Treasurer's ReportGraham Dun advised that there was $4,544.52 in the bank Motion: That the Treasurer's report be received.
General BusinessTransport reportClaire Braund outlined her intention to draw together all the transport studies done over the past 10 years into a single report, summarising the recommendations, cost (of the reports and the work) and what action has been taken. The work would be done under the banner of The Regional Institute Ltd, a not for profit, public policy think-tank for regional Australia of which she is a director. The meeting resolved that HSAG members would make material and the collective knowledge of the group available to The Regional Institute to write the report. Orange by-passBob Burrell to monitor this issue and compile all media stories in CWD. Meeting datesFrequency of meetings raised. CB proposed that until issues hot up enough to require more frequent meetings, that it would be less onerous to hold meetings every two months and may encourage more members to attend. Resolved that HSAG meetings be held second Tuesday of every second month. However next meeting to be held on Tuesday 7th December due to Christmas break. Meeting formatCB suggested less formal procedures in meetings in order to reduce paperwork and encourage others to attend. Idea of having speakers at meetings was raised. MB to invite Peter Andren to addess December meeting. CB to invite Reba Meagher to address February meeting. Submission to NSW Social Impact Study on Impact of Competitive TenderingDiscussion on whether to lodge a submission to the inquiry. Agreed that HSAG should bring certain matters to the inquiry's attention, namely concern about safety issues and impact on councils and local communities.
