Abstract

This paper is an attempt to define the Pedodiversity concept within a geoecological systems context. The focus is on the rationale, identifying soil entities, appropriate classification methods and mapping methods. A flexible approach to analysing diversity in diverse soil geoecological systems is proposed within a global context, with examples form North American studies, and how the concept can apply to the diversity of Australian environments.
