Pre-conference optional activities

1. “Derwent Valley Rural Development” (optional field trip)
Departure at 8.30 am from Hobart Function and Convention Centre.
See outcomes of participation in extension programs, business turn-around through ‘Executive Link’, community development through ‘Valley Vision’, and approaches to natural resource management. Return to Hobart Function and Convention Centre by 4.00pm.

2. Rural servicing in transition workshop. 10.00 am to 3.45 pm. Special event for Tasmanians ($50 registration fee inc lunch etc). Sponsored by DPIWE and APEN Tasmania. (see separate brochure)

3. ‘New to Extension?’ Induction workshop (commences 12.00). Free event for students and newcomers to the extension that will facilitate getting acquainted with others and networking; jargon busting; getting the most out of conferences; who’s who and special welcomes; mentoring. Lunch provided.

The Cartela sails from the Roche O’May berth at the Brooke Street Pier, 100 metres from the Convention Centre in a southerly direction (ie closer to Salamanca Square).

NOTE: there will be a 6.30 pm sharp sailing after which no late-arrivals or departures will be possible. The dinner cruise will incorporate the festivities associated with the 10th birthday celebrations and honouring of APEN’s founders.
